Extra info: After getting the Laurea in Computer Science (useful to access a PhD), I worked as an external contributor for Caspur (Italian Inter-university Supercomputing Consortium) and as a adjunct professor at the University of Rome La Sapienza. During this experience I kept writing some scientific papers for conferences and a scientific journal. My papers were focused on Image processing through genetic algorithms.
I also contribute(d) as a technical journalist to several Italian and international IT magazines, especially focusing on C programming, Linux and free software, as well as TeX/LaTeX programming and using (I had the possibility to interview prof. Donald Knuth of Stanford University and Frank Mittelbach of LaTeX Project).
I also contributed to the first Italian book on UML editing it, and co-authoring the Finite State Automata chapter.
I was the TeX programmer and compositor for Free Software Magazine. I'm the current EIC of ArsTeXnica (Italian journal of TeX and digital typography) and TeX programmer for Infomedia (an Italian IT publisher).
All of that work didn't (doesn't) allow me to earn a living, and the job market in Italy is quite "strange". That's why I work in a newsstand (actually my mother's one).
Lately I edited the second edition of my father's Italian recipes book. Its titled Memorie del sottocuoco; you can find it printed and ebook on www.lulu.com/it
I'm currently working on the English translation: it will be Notes from undercook.
Interests: Reading, writing, listening to music, sometimes acting
